It is common knowledge that Masonry is non-sectarian and non-religious – and has an enviable record for Charity work in the community. So why do people become Freemasons – especially out here?
A too simplistic answer is that Freemasonry teaches, or encourages, morality and integrity. It certainly offers its members an approach to life that seeks to reinforce thoughtfulness for others; it also engenders kindness in the community, courtesy in society and fairness in all things. Welcome attributes in any society.
In Spain, we enjoy the gentle challenges and marvellous fellowship that Freemasonry spontaneously generates – as well as taking pleasure in the social activities that our lifestyle allows. Simply put, we enjoy each other's company: we believe in friendship, we believe in charity and we believe in integrity.
Masonry encompasses all these things.
If you would like to know more about Freemasonry in general, go to www.ugle.org.uk, which will take you to The United Grand Lodge of England web page. That web site outlines all our objectives in their broadest sense.
For a more intimate discussion about joining The Arenal Lodge, get in touch with our Secretary. You’ll find his contact details on the Home Page.
As a last suggestion, perhaps you could ask amongst your friends and acquaintances to see if they can help put you in touch with a Freemason – their answers might surprise you! Or check the names of our members to see if you recognise a name and talk directly to them. But, of course, if you prefer the straightforward route, just go direct to our Secretary.
Membership requirements are quite simple; we welcome all law-abiding men, of any religious faith, providing they be of good character and acknowledge a belief in God. The preliminary steps are quite straightforward and even the interviews are carried out in the friendliest manner.
